Description

This kimono is made by an artist known as a master of Edo komon. The Edo komon artist carves Ise-katagami by hand, so it has a unique pattern. Ise-katagami is a paper pattern used for dyeing patterns and designs of yukata and yuzen, as well as komon patterns such as Edo komon. Ise-katagami is a tool called katagami, but it is also a traditional craft with a history of more than 1,000 years.
There are said to be thousands of different patterns in traditional Japanese Edo komon, but Suiho Shirakawa's Edo komon has no specific name. The name of the artist is the name of this pattern.
