MAYA

I was born in 1977 in the ancient capital of Nara, Japan. I have been fascinated by the beauty of the kimono since I was a child and have always loved the kimono. To wear a kimono, you need the ability to wear it. At the end of my teenage years, I enrolled in a school called "SOUDOU" to learn the techniques of wearing a kimono. During my three years there, I learned the techniques of wearing kimono and the knowledge of kimono materials, and I obtained the "SHIHAN" certification. With the "SHIHAN" certification, I can teach people the techniques of wearing the kimono. I have taught many people the technique of wearing the kimono, and at the same time I have shared with them the beauty of the kimono and the amazing skills of the silk weavers.

Unfortunately, the culture of wearing kimonos is dying out in Japan, and many of the silk fabrics are no longer made into kimonos, but are distributed as vintage items. These items will soon be discarded. This is very sad and unfortunate for me and for Japan.
I thought to myself, I would rather have these items sold than discarded. Why don't we cut them into pieces and have them as works of art that are on display in people's homes around the world? The strength of my love for kimonos motivated me.

I decided to start "Kijaku Art Mayako.S" and sell silk fabrics, the material of kimonos, in frames to the world. My wish is that through this activity, kimono materials destined to be discarded will live on the walls of people's rooms around the world.
